You can update your account information directly through your Abebooks account. We ask that you update your personal information directly through your account for your security and to ensure its accuracy.
To update your email address, name or password:
To add, edit or delete a saved shipping address:
An address that is associated with a saved credit card cannot be edited or deleted through this screen. Use the [Manage My Credit Cards] link instead. Both shipping and billing addresses can also be updated during checkout from within the Shopping Basket.
To edit your currency or your Nickname for the Community forums:
Your AbeBooks account allows you to save and update multiple shipping addresses. If you would like to change your shipping address you can use the instructions provided below.
To change your saved shipping address:
1. [Sign On] to your AbeBooks.co.uk account
2. Click [My Address Book] under My Information on your Members Menu
3. Make the changes you require
4. Be sure to click [Save Changes] at the bottom of the page to submit your changes
You may also change the shipping address for an individual order. During the checkout you will be automatically provided with your saved default shipping address (if you previously saved it in your account).
To change your shipping address during checkout:
1. Enter your payment details and click [Save & Continue]
2. Click [Edit] next to the shipping address
3. Enter the new address and click [Save Changes]*
4. The page will refresh and your new address will be displayed
5. Click [Use this Address]
6. You will then see your Order Summary Page, please check your new shipping details and select [Place Order Now] to complete your order
You will be redirected to a page thanking you for your order and an email confirming that your order has been successfully placed will be sent to you.
*If you have addresses stored you may simply click on [Use this Address]
To delete an address during checkout:
1. Follow steps 1 and 2 above
2. Click [Use this as my default shipping address]
3. Click the [Back Button]
4. Now you see the new address associated with your order
5. Click on [Edit] again
6. Here you can click [Delete] next to any addresses that you wish to delete
We are pleased to inform you that purchases made via AbeBooks can be shipped to overseas military bases. Please use the format below to enter your/the recipient’s military address to ensure delivery:
Full name: Service Number, Rank, Name
Address line 1: Company/Unit
Address line 2: Regiment
Town/City: Military Postal Prefix (E.g. APO/FPO/BFPO)
State/Province: For US Personnel enter 2 letter Zip code prefix (E.g AE/AP)
Postcode: Military Postal Number
Country: Home Country*
Phone number: If you cannot provide a telephone number please enter N/A.
*Do not include the country or the base camp’s city, as you will initially incur international shipping charges. Additionally your package might be routed through the host country’s mail system causing delayed delivery.
You are able to store multiple credit cards on our secure server for use when you place an order on AbeBooks. You can also update or delete your credit cards as the details expire or change.
Adding a New Credit Card:
1. [Sign On] to your AbeBooks.co.uk account
2. Select [Manage My Credit Cards] under My Information on your Members Menu
Note: Delete existing card information before proceeding (instructions below on how to delete card information.
3. Choose a “New” card type from the 'Select Credit Card' drop-down menu
4. Enter your credit card details and click [Save Changes]
Updating the Expiry Date or Card Description:
1. Select your saved card from the 'Select Credit Card' drop-down menu
2. Type the new card description or choose the new expiry date
3. Then click [Save Changes]
Updating the Card Number or Cardholder Name:
For security reasons, please update your card number or the cardholder name by deleting the saved card and entering it as a new card.
Deleting a Credit Card:
1. Select your saved card from the 'Select Credit Card' drop-down menu
2. Click the [Delete Credit Card] button to remove the card

If you do not remember your password, you will need to reset it, please follow the next steps:
- Click the [Forgot Your Password] button
- We will then send an email to the address you provided. This email will provide a link to a secure password reset page.
- Simply click the link or copy/paste it into your browser's address bar to create a new password and log into your AbeBooks account.
If you did not receive the email, please check your Spam or Junk mail folders. Please note that the link in the email expires after 2 hours, and you will then need to click the [Forgot Your Password] button again.
When creating your new password, please keep the following rules in mind:
- Your password must contain at least 8 characters and include no spaces or single quotes
- Your password must include at least 1 lower case letter (a–z)
- Your password can not be the same as your email address
- Your password can not be the same as your previous AbeBooks password
2. Problems with your email address or password?
AbeBooks operates several regional websites and therefore it necessary to sign on at the website where you originally registered your account. For example if you registered on AbeBooks.co.uk you cannot sign on at AbeBooks.com .
Also, because both the email address and your password fields are case-sensitive; please ensure that the CAPS LOCK is not activated on your keyboard when you are attempting to sign on.
